The Core Conflict:

The Shattering of the Concordance

The Pre-Conflict Era: The Concordance. For centuries, the diverse races of the OpenSimulator realm (then called Aethelgard) coexisted under a fragile peace maintained by the Concordance – a council of representatives from each race. The Concordance wasn't about equality; it was about balance . Each race had its needs and desires, and the Concordance ensured they didn't overwhelm the others. The magic of Aethelgard was amplified and controlled by the Concordance, channeled through powerful Nexus points across the land.

The Betrayal and Shattering: About 100 years before the game’s start, a radical faction within the Demon and Vampire races (known as the "Shadow Syndicate") orchestrated a coup. They believed the Concordance was crippling their potential and sought to seize absolute control of the Nexus points, unleashing raw, uncontrolled magic. The attack was devastating. The Concordance was shattered, Nexus points were corrupted, unleashing chaotic surges of magic across the realm, and the fabric of reality itself began to fray. This is now known as the Shattering .

The Aftermath: Wars of Eternity Begin. The Shattering resulted in open conflict between the races, exacerbated by the corrupted magic warping individuals and lands. Now, fragmented territories are ruled by warlords, cults, and desperate communities struggling for survival. The Opensimulator's inherent instability is amplified by the chaotic magic, leading to unpredictable events and glitches that affect the environment and even the very nature of existence.

The Prophecy: A vague prophecy speaks of "The Resonants" – individuals born with a unique connection to the Nexus points, capable of either restoring balance or plunging the realm into eternal chaos. This is a key driver for conflict and a source of hope for some.
